The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba and is pretty rare in America. They make an excellent companion because they have such a naturally affectionate temperament. They are in the "toy breed" group, so they generally are 8.5 to 11.5 inches high at the shoulder and usually weigh between 7 and 14 pounds. They are extremely intelligent and very trainable and love children. Their coat is very lightweight, and even though their hair is usually kept long, they don't get hot very easily. They don't shed either, which makes one really nice for those who suffer from pet allergies! |
